Our Story

My name is Tatiana Bush, and I’m the proud founder of Alejandra’s Panaderia, located in the heart of Tustin, California.

Growing up in a Mexican household, sweet bread—pan dulce—was more than just a treat. It was a tradition. I can still remember walking into local panaderías and being enveloped by the warm, comforting scent of fresh bread. That smell always meant love, family, and home. It also meant hard work—early mornings, strong hands, and recipes passed down through generations.

But as I got older, I started to notice something. These bakeries that meant so much to me—while rich in flavor and heritage—were often overlooked, run-down, or dismissed. I felt that didn’t reflect the heart and beauty behind the craft. So I set out to change that.

Honoring tradition with a modern twist

I created Alejandra’s Panaderia to honor tradition with a modern twist—a space that celebrates the richness of Mexican pastries while uplifting the way they’re seen and experienced. I wanted to give pan dulce the spotlight it deserves and create a bakery that feels fresh, welcoming, and deeply rooted in culture.

As a first-generation American, I often felt caught between two worlds—never quite feeling fully connected to either. But Mexican sweet bread always grounded me. It brought me back to my roots, reminded me of where I come from, and gave me a deep sense of pride in my heritage. I want to share that feeling with others—especially those from my generation who might have grown up with similar experiences.

The name Alejandra’s is a tribute to my grandmother, a woman whose love and warmth have always connected me to my culture. Naming the panadería after her is my way of giving back—to her, to our shared history, and to the generations before us who made so much possible.

My path to this bakery wasn’t traditional. I was raised in an immigrant household where higher education was seen as the surest route to success. And while that path brought many opportunities, it didn’t bring me joy. It was through baking—especially making Mexican pan dulce—that I finally found what I was meant to do. It became more than a skill; it became my passion and my purpose.

Alejandra’s Panaderia is still growing, and so am I. I may not know exactly what makes us unique just yet, but I know that every concha, oreja, and bolillo that comes out of our oven carries a story, a memory, and a whole lot of love. And that’s something worth sharing.

Thank you for being part of this journey.

With love,
Tatiana
